The majority of these men eventually pass away from heart disease, stroke, or other causes — not their prostate cancer. About 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Among very elderly men dying of other causes, a surprising two-thirds may have prostate cancer that was never diagnosed.
